A Fortuitous Find in the Attic

Mike and I spent a large part of Sunday "decluttering" our house. Yes, we watch ENTIRELY too much HGTV, but hey, we want to sell the house fast. I'm sure that most people would be able to look past the 40 empty wine bottles above our kitchen cabinet, the 5 crystal decanters in our dining room, and the 2 pianos in our living room (I'm still working on that one), but we decided not to take our chances. In fact, everyone keeps telling me about St. Joseph, and this is one wive's tale/superstition/belief that I intend to succumb too.

Anyway, enough of my digression. As Mike and I packed away many of our knick knacks, we piled boxes and miscellaneous furniture up in the attic. As I was scanning for things to put in the garage sale, I noticed an unopened box that excitingly had a Fisher Price logo on it. I had forgotten that we had put a few of the items that Luke wouldn't need right away up in the attic. I think we may have replaced his gymini with a new favorite, second only to the bouncey seat. Whoever thought this up is BRILLIANT!

Entering the ranks of the "semi-retired"

Yesterday was my final official day working at Genworth. It was so freeing to walk out into the sunshine knowing that for at least the next little while, I get to take care of this cute smiling creature:

I mean, I must be the luckiest mom on the planet, right? Anyway, it's quite funny what you come home to when your husband is taking a short stint as a full-time daddy. We all know that Mike likes to keep busy, but it's hysterical all of the pictures I came home to. It was easily 10-15 a day, which Mike refers to as their daily "photo shoot." I'm not sure if it was meant as a "Here, honey, wanted to catch things you didn't want to miss" or as a way for Daddy and Luke to pass the bachelor time. Either way, the fruits of his labor are quite cute. Here are a few highlights:

And, here he figured out the timer:

And, finally, the most hilarious picture I think my son has given us. Cousins Mike and Alice sent us the most darling little outfit and a matching pair of sunglasses. Luke isn't too amused with them yet. Either that, or this is just his WTC (way too cool) face!

Luke Peed on the Cat!

This happened a few weeks ago, but since I wasn't a blogger a few weeks ago, I will tell it today. I was out running a few errands, enjoying a Mommy Break. As I'm driving, I got the above text message from Mike. I was laughing so hard, I almost wrecked the car. Of course, the details that he shared later were much more funny.

Luke is quite the master peer, as any boy baby is, I'm sure. He's trained Mommy and Daddy pretty well to be fast at the diaper changes. Now, Mike occasionally likes to let him "air out" while he puts the diaper in the trash, which he seems to think will somehow help avoid diaper rash. So far, if that's true, he at least balances out my lack of airing out and no diaper rash.

Anyway, this time, as Mike turned around, he noticed Luke letting go his usual stream, which goes a good 3-4 feet out in front of the changing table. Insert this picture in your mind (pardon the resolution - it's from a camera phone):

Now, Syndey loves everything that has to do the Luke's stuff (see later pictures). But, the funniest part, she didn't seem to mind being peed on while she was sleeping. In fact, she just licked it off and went right back to sleep.

Booch Tales - The Beginning

I have always enjoyed reading the blogs of my two cousins, Jayne and Kimberly, especially about their kids. The stories that come with kids are just way too funny. So, after feeling like I'd be a terrible mom if I didn't move into the 21st century and start a blog about us and our life with Luke, voila! So, here is just the beginning, of course with a few pics of Luke. Today is his 3-month birthday, and we just got back from the store buying our first Stage 3 diapers. He's a big boy, but he's becoming a big happy boy, too, as demonstrated by a photo of him this morning.
