Luke is 2, Part Deux

The official tallies are in...Luke weighs 27 pounds 14 ounces and is 35 1/2 inches tall! A growing, healthy boy, according to the doctor.

In the course of his visit to the doctor or through his daily interactions with classmates, he has come down with a fever. My kiddo is not usually one for much cuddling, but when he's sick, he only wants his mamma. So, we spent the day just cuddled up, the poor thing. We're hopeful that he'll be on the mend soon.

1 Year Old (and a Little Late on Mom's Part)

Luke is 22 pounds 4 ounces and 31 inches long. My how time does fly. Pardon the lack of blogging. Luke and I just returned this week from Richmond. It was a fantastic time catching up with friends and sharing Illinois politics (Hooray! There's a new governor!). I promise to upload more pics soon and share some of our adventures. In the meantime, Luke's growth updates will be a little less frequent.

Eleven Months Old!

Unfortunately, I'm not sure exactly how much he weighs...somewhere between 21-22 pounds. We are so close to walking, but just needing a bit of confidence to let go. We don't get many discernable noises yet, but a whole lot of gurgling and ahhhing. In fact, when Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas, he replied, "Ahhhhh." It clearly means something to him, but he hasn't been too concerned with making sure we understand it yet.

9 Months Old!

Hard to believe that Luke's been with us already nine months! He weighs 20 pounds 4 ounces and measures 29 1/8 inches long. He's starting to cruise the furniture and had his first Cheerios today in honor of his "birthday." We even gave him a bit of pancake this morning.

8 Months Old!

Today, Luke is every bit of 8 months old! Last week, he weighed 20 lbs and was 28 inches long. Luke spent is day today riding in a shopping cart, chasing the cats, giggling at the words Peek-a-boo, strolling around the arboretum with our new friends Hima and Millan, and getting into anything that he isn't supposed to. Overall, it was a great day!

Here's a preview of two of his portraits! Rather than post a link to the rest, just email me or post a comment if you'd like to see them!

7 Months Old!

My gosh how time flies. Every day is a new adventure and every day Luke gives us a new clue into his little mind. So fascinating to watch him figuring things out. One thing is for sure - he loves his Daddy!

6 Months Old Today!

Where does the time go? Seemed like just yesterday he was such a helpless little creature and now he's grabbing, rolling, kicking, gabbing, giggling, and even responding to words like crazy. He giggled handily yesterday when I asked him (over and over) if he had tooted. Definitely all boy in this one!

A week ago, he was 19 pounds! Boy, that car seat is getting HEH - VEY! Still no solids, although the nice yet eccentric lady at the Starbucks in the grocery store the other day tried to take things into her own hands and offer him some whipped cream. I immediately jumped into Mommy mode: "Oh my gosh, there's germs all over the place back there; the whipped cream is going to scar him for life and he'll never be the same..." You know what I mean. A totally harmless friendly gesture turned into instant panic. In that split second, I composed myself and just quickly thanked her but indicated that it wouldn't be a good idea. She cut me off and now she thinks my son is lactose intolerant. It got the result I was looking for without any hurt feelings, so I know that I can return next week for my iced latte treat. Anyway, rice cereal tomorrow after we (hopefully) sell the Audi to Carmax (insert Taps here)

Thank you everyone for all the comments. Life in a new city is awfully lonesome at times, so it's wonderful to hear from you! We miss you all very much, too!!!

5 Months Old (Yesterday)

Luke was 5 months old yesterday. My gosh, where does the time fly! As of two weeks ago, he was 17.5 pounds, but I haven't measured his length recently. He's growing like crazy!
